music notation software [Nov. 5th, 2004|09:13 am]

Does anyone know of a notation software that is not so MIDI-oriented that it sacrifices functions crucial for modern classical music? According to the rosegarden handbook online, you can't get more than one voice per staff. I'm not sure any programs allow feathering beam angles. And I don't want to learn a text language -- guess that makes me a bad linux user. I'd hate to go back to Finale on Windows.

thanks -- I've been using rosegarden for a few months now, and as one who's never programmed before I think I'm doing pretty well. I still haven't figured out all the semantics but so far it's been far less frustrating than Finale. It is clearly still in development, though.
