Planet CCRMA and Fedora [Feb. 9th, 2004|10:24 pm]

Last night after screwing up my slackbox so badly, I thought it would be a good time to try this Fedora DVD that was given to me.
One reason this came about is the CCRMA project.
Step by step instructions on getting a fresh Fedora Core1 install into a full-blown audio workstation.
It went seamless until the apt-get of all the apps. I got a whole mess of errors, but the fix is this
rpm --rebuilddb
Then ot worked great...

Word from Luke at AudioSlack, updates are coming very soon. When they do, it' sback to slack for me.

audio slack?

I am wondering since you mentioned it and I was not aware of the project. How does it compare and what is your experience so far with other audio based distros?

If I could get a clean install on my machine, I would work it, but I am not that much of a hacker.

People get them working, but an out of the box solution seems to be a ways away for linux. No longer in the posix camp because of that and back with XP which works for now.

Concept wise I have no problems with Linux, love the concept and willing to pay for an install that works. To find one, another matter.
